“ Welcome To the BCS Govt.  PG College library. Our College is Multi-faculty College. We serve from junior College To PG College as well as To Research Students. We try To Satisfy Information Needs of library users at the maximum level. Most of the Student they are from rural area. They fully depend on the library resources. We are using integrated library management software SOUL 2.0 designed and developed by the INFLIBNET Centre for Bibliographic Entries of the library. Traditional Library Services such as reference service, Newspaper clipping, Question papers of Previous examination, competitive exam magazines and audio-visual facility started in 2020 etc are also provided.”

About Library

The College Library is an important educational center of the university and working as Central Library with Forteen constituent Departmental Library colleges of  BCS Govt. PG College , Dhamtari. The college Library established  in 09 June 1981.

The library of this College, which is housed now in a double storied functional independent building with greenery all around, in a peaceful environment, located at the heart of the campus.

The Library is the Central Library of Govt. PG College, Dhamtari serving the needs of different subject and department of  Colleges The library have providing service to own users (Student,  Research scholar, Academic staff and office staff ).  college library divided in two parts central library and departmental library. Reference books general books, for under graduation are collected in main library and for post graduation classes books are collected in relevant departmental libraries. SC and STs Candidates are getting books for examination period under the rules of Book Bank Plan. Reading room is co-ordinate separately. In reading room the news papers, magazines and necessary text materials are available.

Library using SOUL 2.0 ILMS software :-

Library is the main teaching resource of the college.The library management system is partially automated with the Soul 2.0 software, and currently the Soul 2.0 library software performs book exchange with the help of a barcode reader by creating bar-coded library cards. The software was developed in March 1991 as the Autonomous Inter-University Center of UGC at INFLIBNET Center (Information & Library Network) Gujarat University campus, in June 1996 the center became an independent inter-university center. There are many features of this software such as Book Suggestion, Accession, Classification, Book Access and Issue, OPAC and Web OPAC, Administration Module, No-dues Certificate, Library Verification facilities are available. Additional features such as any user can get the actual information of the books he has drawn and can also protect the desired books with his name. Backup, re-store, book bank facility is available only for the college library.

Membership

          The Faculties, Research Scholars and Students can become the members of the library after filling the prescribed form. Membership cards are issued to the members to enable them to borrow from the library. These cards are strictly non- transferable. The rules governing the functioning of the library are notified from time to time for the benefits of members.

Circulation Service:

Circulation section in library. 70 to 80 books circulate per day. Books issue to user as per following table:

Reading Room

Reading room is in the main Library . It also subscribes 08 news paper (Regional & National), 02 Employment Newspaper, 09 magazines ( Monthly + Weekly)  RICHA ( Published By College ) are available in the reading room. Booklets on culture and personality development are also available.

Book Bank : Book Bank Facilities for all ST SC students are providing.

Rules and Regulations

Working Hours 10:30 A.M. to 05:00 P.M. 

Working days: All day except Sunday & Govt. Holidays.

Other Rules :

1.   Silence shall be strictly observed in the Library

2.   Mobile phone shall be switched off while entering the Library.

3.   Smoking and spitting are strictly prohibited in the Library 

4.  No user of the Library shall write by pen or pencil or any mark or remark or damage any publication of the Library. 

5.  If any publication is lost or disfigured or if any page of picture is removed by the readers, he/she will be required to replace it by a new copy. If readers fail to do so, reader will be required to pay the present cost of the materials and also pay the fine as decided by the

Library Committee. If books is out of print (with publishers proof) than reader will pay double cost of the book with late fees. The decision of the Library Committee shall be final in case of controversy. 

6.  The borrower is required to examine the books at the time of receiving them. The last borrower will be held responsible for any damage. 

7.  The students shall not be allowed in the technical room/ store room and circulation counter of the library.

8.  Books are issued for 14 days. It is advised not to keep the books beyond due date to avoid overdue fines.

9.  SC and ST students can avail books up to the end of examinations under Book Bank, other students can avail this depositing security which is refundable.
