B.C.S.Govt.P.G.College, Dhamtari (C.G.) is a recognized college is also known as Babu Chhotelal Shrivastava Govt.P.G.College, Dhamtari was eastablished on 1963. The college is affiliated to pt.Ravishankar shukla university Raipur and is recognized by U.G.C. under 2 (f) and 12 (b) since 1984.

Botany department is visible stated in the college since 01-07-1966 in B.Sc. Botany undergraduate leval class botany, Zoology and chemistry subject combination. M.Sc. Botany P.G. semester classes started in the year 2021, specialization plant pathology elective paper in this college. The U.G. and P.G. combain in this college laboratory set under the department and equipment advanced astereo scopic binoalar, microscope Vertical autoclave automatic slide projector binocular research microscope, compound microscope ,centrifuge machine, digital colorimeter, conductivity meter ,gel elecrophoresis Hotplate, humidity fire, Hot air oven, bactriological incubater , laminarflow hood, microtome ,distillation unit, are available.

B.Sc. level allotted total seat B.Sc-I -300, B.Sc-I-300, B.Sc-III-300 and M.Sc. Botany P.G. Classes Total alloted seat 40. Dr. B.K.Narayan was the head of department. Then prof.R.K.Rajak sub the dept. in 1983-84 after the death of R.K.Rajak 1995-1998 Joint the Department. In year 2008-19 Prof. N.S.Dehari to the charge of the deparment after the retirement Dr.B.K.Narayan.Shri P.L.Dixit was the lab teachician since 1965 and shri P.K.Kashyap has been in the dept. Lab.Tech.since 1992-93 Shri Santuram salam joned the department in the year 2015.
