About the Department
छात्राओं की रूचि एवं आवश्यकता को ध्यान में रखकर धमतरी के दोनों महाविद्यालयों (नूतन महाविद्यालय एवं विज्ञान ,कला एवं वाणिज्य महाविद्यालय) में जुलाई 1971 में कला संकाय में गृहविज्ञान विषय प्रारंभ किया गया। तब पं.रविशंकर शुक्ल विश्वविद्यालय रायपुर में केवल आठ महाविद्यालयों में गृहविज्ञान केवल कला संकाय में था।
09 जून 1981 को महाविद्यालय का शासकीयकरण हुआ। शासकीयकरण के बाद शैक्षणिक सत्र 1982-83 से बी.एच.एस.सी. (बाल विकास) की कक्षाएॅ प्रारंभ हुई। छत्तीसगढ़ विश्वविद्यालय समन्वय समिति की दिनांक 02.02.2006 को सम्पन्न 11 वीं बैठक में लिए गए निर्णयानुसार उच्च शिक्षा अनुदान आयोग ,नई दिल्ली के माॅडल केरिकुलम के प्रावधानानुसार अध्यादेश क्रमांक 27 बी.एच.एस.सी. के नाम में परिवर्तन कर बी.एस.सी. (गृहविज्ञान) किया गया। यह संशोधन शिक्षा सत्र 2006-07 से प्रभावशील हुआ। एम.एच.एस.सी. के नाम में परिवर्तन कर एम.एस.सी. (गृहविज्ञान) मानव विकास किया गया।
गृहविज्ञान विभाग की प्रथम प्राध्यापक नूतन महाविद्यालय में कु.मंगला कोठेकर (देशमुख) एवं विज्ञान महाविद्यालय में कु.सरला सिंघई (जैन) थी। 1984 से 1993 तक प्रायः श्रीमती मंगला देशमुख ने अकेले ही गृहविज्ञान विभाग का संचालन किया। इस अवधि में अनुभा झा राव, शैलजा राव, सविता इंगोले ,भारती सेठी, क्षिप्रा बैजर्जी, अलका वा
गृहविज्ञान विभाग की छात्राएं एन.सी.सी. ,एन.एस.एस. एवं महाविद्यालय के वार्षिक खेलकूद एवं सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रमों में भाग लेती है।
